Medical biostasis and cryobiology laboratory

Medical biostasis

A last-resort option that deserves to be known

Fundación LONGENIA’s science communication lines include medical biostasis: an experimental field involving protocols for cellular stabilisation and low-temperature tissue preservation, aimed at preserving biological structure when current medicine has no effective therapeutic options, with the aim of keeping open the possibility of future treatments.

  • Experimental nature
  • Patient autonomy
  • Ethical rigour

The Foundation communicates medical biostasis according to three non-negotiable principles: full transparency about its experimental nature, absolute respect for patient autonomy and ethical rigour. It is an experimental field currently under investigation and must be approached with scientific prudence, without creating unproven clinical expectations. We believe patients in terminal medical situations should have access to rigorous information about its existence, limitations and experimental character.

Scientific collaboration between Fundación LONGENIA and BHIAR

Scientific Collaboration with BHIAR

Fundación LONGENIA collaborates with the Bilu Huang Institute for Aging Research (BHIAR) on science communication, scientific cooperation and international dialogue in aging research.

Bilu Huang is the creator of the Integrated Aging Theory Framework, which includes the TRCS Model of Cell Senescence. The TRCS Model has received preliminary validation. Developed from a first-principles approach, this theoretical framework proposes a different perspective for understanding the fundamental mechanisms of biological aging and cellular senescence. BHIAR advances scientific development, validation and research related to this framework.
