Reactive telecare
Responds mainly after an incident has already occurred.
Usually depends on direct action by the person to request help.
Focuses especially on emergency management.
Better care means caring earlier. LONGENIA Care proposes a preventive-support model combining telehealth, non-invasive monitoring and health-social care coordination to help people live with greater safety and autonomy in their own environment.
LONGENIA Care is a Fundación LONGENIA initiative focused on preventive health monitoring and home-care coordination. Its approach extends the traditional reactive telecare model through continuous support capable of identifying relevant changes in health, mobility and daily routines.
The aim is not to replace carers or healthcare professionals, but to enable earlier intervention, better coordination and greater peace of mind for individuals and their families.
LONGENIA Care starts from a simple idea: care should not begin only when an emergency occurs. Preventive monitoring makes it possible to recognise relevant changes earlier and facilitate a more coordinated response.

From reacting to an emergency to accompanying people before it happens.
LONGENIA Care integrates preventive monitoring, health-social care coordination and family support within a single accompaniment model.
Monitoring of relevant indicators of health, rest, mobility and everyday activity through technologies designed to blend discreetly into daily life.

LONGENIA Care starts from a fundamental ethical principle: technology capable of protecting the most vulnerable people is ready to protect everyone.
The priority groups in the initial phase of the project are:
The initial scope of the project is Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in collaboration with Third Sector organisations specialised in supporting these groups.
The system architecture is designed to be extensible to other high-vulnerability contexts: isolated rural environments, facilities in remote areas and, as a long-range application, space-exploration environments, where autonomy in the care system is a condition of survival.
The use of data in LONGENIA Care starts from a simple principle: technology must support better care decisions without replacing human judgement.
The processing of personal and health information must follow criteria of minimisation, security and access control, in accordance with the applicable European framework for data protection and digital health.
Signals generated by technological systems serve as support for professional assessment and coordination, not as an automatic replacement for human decisions.
People must be able to know what information is collected, for what purpose it is used and who can access it.
