Villa LONGENIA: the future of housing for independent living

A pilot project that turns housing into the backbone of health, autonomy and community inclusion.

What is Villa LONGENIA?

Villa LONGENIA is a residential innovation programme and Living Lab promoted by Fundación LONGENIA. The project proposes an alternative to traditional residential models, allowing older people, people with disabilities and vulnerable groups to live in integrated, adapted community environments equipped with non-invasive technology.

One Health and community living

Villa LONGENIA starts from a broad vision of health: living well depends not only on healthcare, but also on the environment, social relationships, everyday autonomy and the quality of the space in which we live.

From institutional care to community living

Villa LONGENIA explores a model in which support is organised around the person, their home and their community, rather than requiring the person to adapt their life to an institutional structure.

Need for support institution

Villa LONGENIA explores

Person home community technology personalised support

The project is inspired by the transition towards personalised, community-based care models centred on autonomy, in line with Spain’s State Strategy for a new community-care model: a deinstitutionalisation process 2024-2030.

A connected support ecosystem

Villa LONGENIA proposes a support network that can accompany each person over time, from daily life and prevention through to more complex health-social care needs.

  1. 01 Independent living
  2. 02 Everyday support
  3. 03 Prevention
  4. 04 Community support

The aim is to help people maintain their autonomy and remain integrated in their environment for as long as possible.
